London's Chelsea Club has become the UK's first health club to showcase Ciclotte, the world's first designer exercise bike.
Made with high quality materials including carbon, steel and glass fibre - together with a unique technology system - Ciclotte is said to represent a new solution for the luxury fitness world; gym-standard training on a machine weighing only 120lbs.
Ciclotte - claimed to be targetting advanced users, dynamic fitness enthusiasts and those that appreciate the art of design - has been created by Milan-based Luca Schieppati and is built by the Italian Lamiflex Group.
The bike's main focus is its large, single wheel, reminiscent of a 19th century monocycle wheel, with other distinct elements including the carbon handlebar, the touch screen display and the supporting fins for stability.
From a technical point of view, Ciclotte has been designed to reproduce the dynamics and performance of road cycling and is ideal for high intensity aerobic workouts such as spinning.
It is also the first exercise bike to use an epicycloid system. This works by generating a concentrated magnetic field using a copper ring which is rotated at a high speed in front of five magnets.
This can be moved back or forwards via the touch screen display to control the strength, producing a high performance effective cycling resistance system.
